Review :

FANTASTIC ANIMATION... but just OK script

This movie start great. The beginning when the Dalton brothers escape from their trial in New York just to be capture by Lucky Luke once again is pretty fun and full of energy, however as soon the plots kicks in with Lucky Luke escorting caravan the movie quickly turn into a hour and a half Road Runner cartoon. There is never a filling of threat for our hero as all the villains are either to stupid to create any danger or have over-the-top bad luck and their plans back-fire on them without any intervention of the main protagonist. Even the humor can gets way to slapstick with jokes I've seen hundreds time before in Looney Toons cartoons (They throw some cute In-jokes for Lucky Luke fans BTW)

On other hand... The animation however looks FANTASTIC!!! There are some Ren and Stimpy like expressions, backgrounds are rich and full of details and to be fair next to "The Princess and the frog" and "Illusionist" this must be the best hand drawn animation of the last decade.

So yhe, if you love the classic 2D animation this movie is great to look at, but the script is just hour and a half of slapstick humor and thats it.

A hilarious film, laugh out load funny through most of it, Thierry Lhermitte is fantastic!

This is a fantastic film. The plot is relatively simple, the main character has been unemployed for several years, he does very well in a job interview and now the boss is coming over for a home cooked meal the following night. This leads to hilarious consequences, mostly from their new neighbour who acts as a consultant to help them get the job they so sorely want. L'invite or The Dinner Guest is laugh out load hilarity at many points throughout with the majority of the laughs coming from Thierry Lhermitte's neighbor character- Alexandre, I strongly suggest that you go and see it and am very surprised by all the negativity that has been said about this film. If you have a good sense of humour then you will be in hysterics all the way through. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Smooth French literary bedroom comedy

Ambitious/Les ambitieux is a romantic comedy with a Parisian literary twist. Young author Julien (Eric Caravaca) gets an interview with Judith (Karin Viard), a woman editor described as "scary." She goes to bed with him because he's her type, though she hasn't even read the autobiographical novel he wants to get published. Having gained admittance to her fancy apartment, Julien goes through a box she'd left in his car. It contains records showing that Judith's father was a Sixties radical who was killed in a guerrilla movement in Latin America. This seems to be the exciting material he needs to write a more saleable book. The film is full of clever double-crosses but ends with a somewhat soppy reunion. It's entertaining and watchable. Viard has the requisite edge; Caravaca, the right mixture of shy charm and hidden drive.

This reminded me of Emmanuel Bourdieu's Les amitiés maléfiques from last year, which also dealt with jealousy, ambition, and authorship, from a more academic angle, but was more sophisticated and complex. This one is polished but superficial. It moves with a brisk pace and has vivid characters, but it sticks to an easy story-line that leaves no deep impression. And though it gets its laughs, it does so at the cost of never going more than skin deep. As a French online review commented, one wishes Catherine Corsini herself might have been more "ambitious." The images were too dark, but this may have been in part simply due to the fact that we were shown a DVD.

Terrible

"I Want Candy" is a classic British comedy. A breath of fresh air. It is well written with great performances (Carmen Electra especially is a revelation as porn goddess Candy Fiveways and shows just what a great actress she is) and great production values. Stephen Surjik's film is a welcome addition to the pantheon of comedies dealing with the war between the sexes. Along the way the script makes several incisive points about the infiltration of pornography in modern life during the 21st century, and asks probing questions such as, who exactly is exploiting who? "I Want Candy" is a classic. It's a triumph!

"I Want Candy" is terrible.

There is one great piece of gross slapstick involving a male actor who gets a bit... er... carried away, but other than that I don't think I laughed once. I like a good sex comedy as much as the next guy, but this is not a good sex comedy. It is terrible. Awful, awful, awful. Shame on Ealing Studios being associated with such nonsense.

On the bright side, Michelle Ryan does look very nice.

Good, if flawed, film

Before watching the DVD of Georgia Rule last night, I knew nothing about the film other than it was savaged by critics and was a huge theatrical bomb. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was though, especially the acting from Lindsay Lohan. Her character in the film, as well as in real life, is one messed up young woman. Doing or saying whatever is needed at the time to get her through the situation, her character is very realistic and believable. I personally know a young woman with just these types of issues and reactions. Ms. Lohan's acting ability is phenomenal - and like other amazing, but difficult, actors, her off-screen antics never show up in the finished product. If she can straighten her life out, an Academy Award will be hers someday.

As always, it's wonderful seeing Jane Fonda back on the silver screen - and she looks superb! Too bad Mary Tyler Moore went crazy with the plastic surgery or she could (and should!) look this good now, too. Felicity Huffman is, as usual, stunning - her work is simply too good to ignore - hopefully, her and her husband, William H. Macy, will act together in the future. I'm surprised he wasn't involved in this project as a producer or something, like he was in Transamerica.

This film is difficult - it's a very, very serious film with deep, hard-to-watch issues going on. Yet, at the same time, Garry Marshall has tried to make it a light-hearted comedy too - it can't be both. From the looks of the finished product, I'd say a lot of the film ended up on the cutting room floor - too many scenes are simply not dealt with the way they should have been - like when Jane goes to buy the liquor - where's the struggle with the issue of what she is doing? Nowhere - instead we are treated to a, supposed, comical scene of her trying to hide the fact she's bought the liquor. Bizarre! It's like the film makers felt the movie had gotten too heavy at that point and needed some comic relief. Strange! The Mormon aspect was dealt with poorly too - the guy's issues with not having pre-marital sex rang false - an LDS (Mormon) church member, who was raised in the church, would know the reason why pre-marital sex is frowned upon, not just that it would "make God mad." The writer seems to know no more about the LDS religion and beliefs than some person told him - and he seemed to do no more in-depth research about it.

Still, don't let these complaints turn you off from seeing Georgia Rule. It's well worth your 2 hours.

Even for Erik Clausen this is low.

Not being a huge fan of Erik Clausen, I wanted to see if he had improved since recent movies.

It turns out NOT! The cast for this movie is excellent, all of the stereotypes are there. But the acting and the plot was utterly useless! A few lines, are good, and underline the stereotypes.

I expected a lot more acting talent from Henrik Bruhn, who is an acknowledged danish stand-up comedian. But of all the actors in this movie, he was the worst! Overall a two stars, for a few lines, and a good cast..

Don't waste your time unless you are really enthusiastic!

A teenage flick, above average.

OK, it's a feel good teenage movie. Not much of a plot, girl meets boy ......and everything ends well. The plot is sloppy, if indeed there was a plot. However it is very watchable. I felt myself enjoying this movie mainly because the young characters are very engaging. You can't help liking them. Also I like this movie because the parental characters are painted in a very kindly light, they are not your usual stereotype of the usual parental figure in movies.

Keep an eye on Sarah Felderbaum playing the part of Ilaria. She adds much to every scene that she is in, even when she is in the background and out of focus.

Typical Naruto Style

This movie was good but i personally liked the first movie better. The animation in this movie is certainly better the characters were sharper and details has been looked into. the lighting was excellent and was most certainly better than the first movie.

The appearance on Gaara and the others comes as a surprise at the beginning but as the movie progresses one can see that Gaara has no part in the action. That was kind of disappointing and many fans would agree with me on that.

The background was decent throughout the movie(had a slight Indian touch here and there). The storyline is similar to the other ones that appear in the Naruto series so don't expect anything different.

Bottomline...If you are a Naruto fan then you'd definitely like it.

Absolutely Fabulous!! Hail to Director Izidore Musallam and Prince Walid for doing this movie.............................................Let's have a sequel soon, because we all want to see what Sahar will do next! She's our Arab version of Brigitte Jones...! I agree with The New York Times: The plot may seem mundane but in important ways, "Keif al Hal" is a landmark project with big ambitions. It is the first feature film from Saudi Arabia, a country with not a single legal movie theater.We need more free-spirited characters and mentors for our young people to feed off of. A modern Alfie for a modern day London

For all the glitz and glamour of London this depiction of a downtrodden out of luck woman loving guy highlights the tough decisions that have to be made under strenuous living and social conditions. The film uses locations and a language of that often found in the minority areas of the capital and therefore realism plays a large part in getting its message across, however the director has moments of style over substance which also helps to create a sense of feeling on our part for and with the protagonist. Overall the pace of the film is a little slow to be a truly comfortable piece of cinema and is spread out to make it feature length, but is still an independent film that strikes a cord with anyone that has lived and experienced urban London Town.

An Murderous Passion

When i hear about that Verónica Orozco was in a film called "Soñar no cuesta nada" well... i say...good! But then, i hear about the plot... well, i was not so informed about the case. Then i saw it... and i really think the movie is very good. A good proposal for the movies of my country.

The story talks about a group of soldiers that discovers a lot of money from an armed illegal group. They takes it. Based on a trues story that happens not so long time in Colombia, "Soñar no cuesta nada" is a movie of desire and feelings.

Here, much people has ideas and opinions about the lucky of those soldiers, well, you must know that the movie don't express any opinion about what happens. The movie just tell us about the facts and don't have any opinion about it. So, in this way the movie is good.

For other way, is a shame that some of the actors (a problem of all the movies of all the world) must to have the same people that we see in many films or in TV. But there is a thing that change me an opinion about one of the actors, Diego Cadavid. And is about his performance. I think now he is a good actor. Because as the paper of a soldier who want a "good" life with all the money, and he wants his money! A good topic of desire.

Please, this is a commentary of the film, i don't write anything about the events or the people who was involved in it. This is a good film with really good performances. See it when you can!!! And if you like great dances of beautiful women... you won't be sorry. I mean... Verónica Orozco is there... you want other reason?

A sentimental comedy

Italian Director Pupi Avati works again with Diego Abatuono. The funny comedian has been saved by Avati in 1986, when he starred in Regalo di Natale, in a low career moment. Sandro Lanza is a failed actor and has a role in a televised soap-opera. He never had the great chance of an important movie character, though he was an actor in the most important period of Italian cinema. Three daughters, from different women, take care of him in a sad period of his life. Good performances of the actors, mostly of Abatantuono, who maybe feels this character very personally, because his own career could have been very alike in its failure. Avati talks about Italian cinema's decadence or, maybe, about Italian decadence at all. Unfortunately the movie seems not complete or maybe it doesn't succeed in saying everything the director meant.

A crackpot comedy about sanity, a quest, and crazy love. When eight mental health home patients wake up to discover that the Nurse is absent, the T.V. is out, and find a glass eye made in Rapture, Indiana. . .they come to the only possible conclusion: the apocalypse has happened. Each takes on a new role in society and finds a sense of purpose through imagination. Led by their president--a disenfranchised housewife who has decided normal is crazy--they commandeer a short bus and head out on a mission to save the world's survivors, on their journey to find the edge of the world.

Unique, Clever, and Quirky Vision

I saw this film premier at the Cinequest Festival. It showed a distinct visual flavor. The film seems more like reading a book with beautiful and meaningful imagery. Definite Wes Anderson influences. I don't believe this film is for everyone. I would like to watch it again. Afterwards, my impression was there were a lot of detailed elements I missed. And when the director said the film cost less than $100,000 to make; I couldn't believe it. Production value was outstanding. Some memorable performances. And most of all, it actually left me months later still thinking about it. I liked it more in retrospect than I did during the actual viewing (though I had a smile on my face during the screening). I think that means something. Great directorial debut.
